LED display is a light-emitting diode (LED) as a display carrier display device, composed of a small LED module panel, used to display text, images, video and other various information devices.LED, light emitting diode (light emitting diode abbreviation). It controls the display of semiconductor light emitting diodes by gallium (Ga) and arsenic (As), phosphorus (P), nitrogen (N), indium (In) compounds made of diodes, when electrons and holes can radiate visible light when compounded, and thus can be used to make light emitting diodes. In circuits and instruments as indicators, or composed of text or digital display. Phosphorus gallium arsenide diodes emit red light, gallium phosphide diodes emit green light, silicon carbide diodes emit yellow light, indium gallium nitride diodes emit blue light.

In LED display, the red and green LED chip or lamp put together as a pixel to make the display is called tri-color or double base color screen, the light-emitting diode has three colors of red, green and blue. They are widely used because of their small size, light weight, long life, high luminous brightness and low interference with ambient light.


I. Composition

LED display is mainly composed of the following parts:
  1. display unit board: used to display text, patterns and other content;
  2. driving unit board: used to drive the LED display on and off. ;
  3. communication unit board: used to transmit signals and receive signals. 4. control software: used to receive communication software;
  4. control software: used to receive communication signals, display content management, and a variety of control processes.

II. Driving Circuit


The driver circuit of the LED display mainly includes the lighting and turning off of the LED. The circuit to light up and turn off the LEDs is usually realized by a microcontroller. Each LED has an independent control terminal, which we call "light". When the "light" is on, the microcontroller controls its power supply to turn on and off, so that it lights up. In order to drive multiple "lights", generally have more than one power supply. As shown in Figure 2 for a 12-bit LED display driver circuit, each "light" corresponds to a power supply.




 

III. Control modes


Control mode refers to the method used to control the LED display, divided into manual control and automatic control.
  1. Manual control: when the need to change the display content, the LED screen on each LED light, and use the wire to connect each point with the computer. Because the luminous intensity of the LED is adjustable, so the manual control can get a better display.
  2. automatic control: that is, the use of computer-controlled display content. It is by the computer according to the predefined rules to select the display content. According to the actual needs of the data can be stored, you can also directly read the data stored in the computer. The computer selects the display content according to the predefined rules and converts it into the format that the LED display can recognize, and then connects the display and the computer through the connecting cable.





IV. Display Principle


The working principle of LED display is designed according to the characteristics of light-emitting diode, by adjusting the working state of the control circuit, change the brightness of LED, to realize the text, pattern, image and other kinds of display information. Its working process is: when the LED light-emitting diode is in normal working condition, its current is very small, the light is very weak. When the current reaches a certain value, it will automatically light up and emit bright light. In most cases, there is only one lighting element on the LED display board. The light it emits is white or yellow in space, but red in the vertical direction. When the LED is forward biased, its luminous intensity is increased and red in color due to the increase in current and decrease in voltage.
